Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is a cloud-native endpoint security platform that brings endpoint protection, endpoint detection and response (EDR), mobile threat protection and advanced hunting into a single service. It gives security teams visibility into the devices in their environment and uses XDR-level alert correlation to automatically disrupt sophisticated attacks such as ransomware.
The service covers Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS and IoT devices, and is managed from the Microsoft Defender XDR portal. Exposure management helps teams understand their attack surface, Microsoft Defender Antivirus provides always-on scanning with cloud-delivered protection, and Microsoft Security Copilot is available to assist investigations. Settings for Windows, macOS and Linux can be mirrored in Intune for simplified endpoint management.
