Microsoft Defender External Attack Surface Management continuously discovers and maps an organization's digital attack surface. Proprietary discovery starts from known legitimate assets called seeds and recursively finds connected domains, IP blocks, hosts, email contacts, ASNs and Whois organizations.

Dashboards highlight vulnerabilities, compliance and security hygiene risks, and the service classifies and prioritizes exposed weaknesses across cloud, SaaS and IaaS resources. It integrates with Microsoft Defender for Cloud to help protect newly discovered resources, and supports natural language inventory queries through Microsoft Security Copilot.
