Rain was founded in 2017 in Manama by Joseph Dallago, AJ Nelson, Yehia Badawy, and Abdullah Almoaiqel. The company became the first licensed virtual assets service provider in the Middle East in 2019, regulated by the Central Bank of Bahrain, and later expanded licensing to Abu Dhabi's ADGM and Dubai. Rain has raised over $120M from investors including Kleiner Perkins and Coinbase Ventures, reporting more than $11 billion in cumulative trading volume.
