Mud Cat is one of three dredge and dewatering brands owned by Ellicott Dredge Enterprises, LLC, alongside the IMS Versi-Dredge line and GeoPool Dewatering. The auger dredge concept traces back to 1962, when Norbert Degelman and Harold Morgan built the first portable dredge in Fridley, Minnesota. National Car Rental acquired the manufacturing rights in 1970, and Ellicott acquired Mud Cat in 1987. The brand absorbed Liquid Waste Technology (LWT) in late 2015. Today, over 1,000 Mud Cat dredges operate in more than 80 countries.
